A bar and grill has now closed down in Toronto after decades in business due to redevelopment.

Kramer’s has long taken up residence at a busy corner spot, but now they have had to shut down along with other businesses on the block due to redevelopment.

The bar and grill has long been known for its welcoming atmosphere, a menu of comfort food like sandwiches, burgers and enchiladas, a great patio, and a giant blue horse mascot lovingly named Idaho.

Kramer’s originally took to social media in June to announce they would be closing due to the changes coming to their area.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our landlords have given us two months notice that they are terminating our lease to clear the block for development. Unfortunately , this means that Kramer’s will be closing permanently,” reads their announcement.

“We are still figuring out all the details and will announce in the coming days exactly when our last day of operations will be. It will definitely be in late August and it’s business as usual until then. We will for sure be having one last big blow out towards the end.”

Kramer’s closed out their last few days of business around the end of the summer with a farewell bash with karaoke, prizes and deals on food and drinks. They counted down their last days open on social media, posting images of villainous developers mowing down Idaho the blue horse and the beloved Kramer’s neighbourhood at Yonge and Davisville.

While they had said that Kramer’s would be closing permanently in their announcement, a social media post following their last day open says “we’ll let you know where we land.”

“We wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know how much we appreciate each and every one of you little Blue Horses. It has been a pure pleasure to be here at Kramer’s all these years. We have had some times!” reads a social media post.

“We will miss each and every one of you. Thank you, seriously, thank you so much for everything, every memory, every laugh, every mess…it’s all been so worth it. Most of all thanks for your friendship. We have become a real family haven’t we? We’ll let you know where we land and we will see you there. Love from all of us!”

The last day open for Kramer’s was Aug. 31.
