A restaurant serving up Mexican food that had become known for their all-you-can-eat specials has now vacated their space in Toronto citing issues with their landlord.
Sad Songs Cantina served an all-you-can-eat menu, and their Mexican-inspired dishes included tuna tostadas, chicken wings, garlic shrimp and churros. Of course, they also served a lineup of margaritas, beers and simple cocktails to go with their comfort food.
Recently, the restaurant posted to social media letting people know they had been through it with their landlord and were now deciding to vacate the space they’ve called home.
“We hit our limit with the abusive landlord and decided to call it quits on our beautiful space,” reads a post on social media from Sad Songs Cantina.
“We won’t miss the owner, but we will miss the staff at the Lancaster. Thank you everyone for your love and support. It was a wild ride! And we can’t wait to see what happens next!”

What happened next was the restaurant posting more to social media showing the team disassembling the restaurant and taking everything out of the space. Sad Songs Cantina also followed up with another social media post thanking people yet again for the adventure, love and support, and saying “see you soon.”
The initial post has over 350 likes and nearly 50 comments on Instagram, with many people commenting saying they’re sorry to see the Sad Songs Cantina space go, with one person calling the news “literally devastating.”
“We love you so much,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “You came into my life when I needed a space to unwind, feel welcomed, have a delicious meal. I will follow you wherever you go.”
“We love you! And you should have been allowed to thrive,” another commenter on Instagram wrote on the post. Another person added to the conversation with a comment saying, “I’m so happy y’all have left that toxic environment!”
Sad Songs Cantina has now followed up with another post on social media saying they’re “going private.” The post shows a menu and says anyone still interested in grabbing food from them can DM for pricing and details.
The new “private” menu has items on it that include guacamole, tuna tostada, Baja lobster taco, duck taco, ribeye taco, lamb barbacoa and traditional tres leches cake, and you can also add on an agave pairing with tequila and mezcal options.
Sad Songs Cantina vacated their physical space around mid-February.
