A Latin American restaurant known for its ceviche as well as their cocktails, tacos and all around good times has quietly but permanently closed its doors for good in Toronto.
La Cevicheria was a Latin American restaurant serving seafood, tacos and cocktails, and they were also known for their lively nightlife events such as karaoke and live music evenings.
Now, it seems that sadly any fans of the La Cevicheria restaurant won’t be able to enjoy their food or attend their events any longer, as the restaurant has quietly wound down and shuttered its doors without any formal notice to customers or community members.
Some of the special signature dishes that La Cevicheria served at their restaurant included fried octopus tostadas, aguachile mango habanero, ceviche “shots,” Azteca ceviche and grilled octopus.
Signature cocktails, including margaritas, piña coladas, and mojitos at La Cevicheria complemented their Latin-inspired menu with a hit of tropical refreshment.
The events that La Cevicheria may have been most known for included their Latino Nights with live music, and their Norteno Sundays live shows where live authentic Mexican music was played.
In addition to their energetic atmosphere that was created inside the restaurant during service and events, La Cevicheria also had a patio area for sitting outside when the weather was nice and warm.
The restaurant La Cevicheria was a vibrant part of the Kensington Market food scene, fitting in well with the many other popular restaurants serving Latin American cuisine in the unique neighbourhood. They also sold cocktails to go along with their food.
While they didn’t make an official post about the closure themselves, the La Cevicheria account did comment on an Instagram post from a local neighbourhood group clarifying that they had closed.

“For five years, we had the honor of sharing a little piece of Mexican culture with you: the vibrant flavors of the sea in our beloved ceviches, the only margaritas to-go that we’re sure you’ll miss, the classic hits that filled the room during what we proudly called the best karaoke nights in Toronto, and our joyful norteño afternoons,” reads the comment.
“What we built together was more than just a place, it was laughter echoing through the walls, glasses clinking in celebration, songs sung from the heart, and friendships that will stay with us forever. Thank you for every visit, every toast, every song, and every memory. This is not goodbye, it’s see you very soon.”
The neighbourhood group Instagram post also appears to show signage for what may be coming soon to the old La Cevicheria space, which appears to be for Taqueria El Pastorcito, so fortunately the offerings available from the address shouldn’t be changing much.
La Cevicheria confirmed with YourCityWithIN.com that they are now permanently closed.
The last post on social media from La Cevicheria is from late November 2025.
