A popular restaurant that has been serving Italian food to people in Toronto for around a decade has abruptly announced that they have just shuttered their doors.

Figo has been known for their casual and accessible yet elegant and refined Italian fare for many years, but now the concept’s journey has reached its end at their address in downtown Toronto.

The restaurant specialized in serving a menu of traditional classic Italian favourites for lunch, dinner and even brunch on the weekend. Some of their signature dishes that earned Figo their reputation over the past decade were their pizza and pastas, and at brunch they served bottomless mimosas.

Figo also had a very sophisticated and beautiful interior with lots of classy design touches including a sleek emphasis on white throughout the space, and the restaurant also boasted a gorgeous and large patio.

They took to social media to share the news that the restaurant Figo is now no more with the words “big changes are coming,”

“Ten years of unforgettable moments, shared plates, and soulful Italian cuisine,” reads the post on the restaurant’s social media. “Thank you to everyone who has dined with us over the past decade. While this chapter comes to a close, a new, exciting concept is coming this Spring. Stay tuned!”

The post goes on to say that the Figo concept in downtown Toronto will soon be replaced by a new concept by the same hospitality company, Ink Entertainment. The hospitality group is also responsible for other popular concepts in Toronto such as Vinny, Animl, Akira Back, Amal, Rebel, Cabana Pool Bar, Daphne, Sofia and Kost.

Ink Entertainment is also behind nearby multi-level, multi-concept space Portland Square, which houses another Italian restaurant called Primadonna, so fans of Figo can still get their pasta fix without having to go far.

The closing announcement post has around 80 likes and a handful of heartfelt comments on Instagram.

“omg noooooo we’ll miss you,” one commenter wrote. Another person commented on the post saying, “Best cacio pepe in town can’t wait for next chapter.” Another person shared a similar sentiment, commenting, “I’m sure it will be fantastic.”

“My favorite place,” someone else commented. “We are going to miss you dearly! Thank you so much for always serving us the best quality food with staff with a heart of gold that always made us feel like family.”

Figo closed its doors on Jan. 1, 2026.
