The owner of a popular doughnut shop in Toronto just posted a lengthy video to social media announcing that the shop will eventually be closing permanently.
“The time has come folks. Our biggest announcement to date,” reads the caption to a social media post from Glory Hole Doughnuts. “Three minutes isn’t enough time to explain.”
Glory Hole makes some of the most popular doughnuts in the city in constantly rotating creative flavours. They once had multiple locations in Toronto but now are operating out of just one location on Gerrard.
“I have decided through years of reflection that in three months’ time, I will be closing Glory Hole Doughnuts permanently,” owner Ashley Jacot De Boinod says in a video post.

The post has over 1,000 likes and nearly 300 comments on Instagram, with people congratulating Glory Hole on their near 15-year run.
Fortunately, all is not lost for fans of the business: the caption of the post also says the space at Gerrard will be retained for a brand new business that should be opening around September.
“I’ve been working on a new brand for a couple of years and it means a lot to me,” Jacot De Boinod says in the video. “It’s who I’ve evolved to now.”
Another silver lining to the closure is that Glory Hole has given ample heads up about shuttering their doors. While some businesses give only a few weeks’ or days’ notice or sometimes no notice at all before closing, Glory Hole Doughnuts has announced their closure three months in advance, giving doughnut lovers ample time to get their last treats from the shop.
