An eco-friendly business is closing the doors of their Toronto storefront after over five years.

The Green Jar Shop specializes in package free shopping and refills of typical household products, with a mission to reduce plastic usage and waste. As such, many of their products are also healthy, wholesome and local.

Over the years, they’ve sold everything from dog treats, soap and baby items to reusable drink cups, sunscreens, oils, bath bombs and so much more.

Now, they’ve taken to social media to announce that they’ll soon be closing their physical storefront.

“We’ve faced many challenges—from the pandemic to personal losses and unexpected setbacks—but your unwavering support has carried us through and helped us stay true to our mission. It is with a heavy heart that we share that our brick-and-mortar location will close,” reads a post from Green Jar signed by operators Tannis and Mara.

The post goes on to say that they’ll be shifting their focus to wholesale and are open to requests for large volume orders, and that they will be continuing with online orders and deliveries.

The post has 170 likes on Instagram and nearly 50 comments from people wishing the business the best and saying they always enjoyed stopping in at Green Jar’s cute St. Clair West shop. Other low waste businesses Unboxed Market, Bare Market and Pretty Clean Shop also commented expressing support.

The last day for Green Jar Shop will be Aug. 31.
