CLOSURE: Beloved pub will soon be closing its doors in Toronto

A popular traditional pub in Toronto has announced on social media that they’ll soon be closing their doors.
Prenup Pub is beloved by students, young people and drinkers of all stripes, but now they’ve taken to social media to announce that they won’t be remaining open for much longer.
The beer bar is known for their wide selection of brews, including lots of imported options from Europe. They have a lively atmosphere with a traditional style of decor that provides a simple setting for rounds of drinks with friends.
In a social media post, Prenup Pub told everyone that they would be closing down.
“We are saddened to announce that Prenup Pub will be closing its doors,” the restaurant said simply in a social media post.

The post has garnered around 400 likes and over 50 comments on Instagram from people who are sad to see the space go, including a couple very sad crying GIFs.
“Thank you guys for always having me host my birthday parties, 10 years in a row,” one commenter wrote. “Wishing you all the best!”
“This is the best pub in Toronto without a doubt,” someone said in a comment.
“RIP to an amazing patio,” one person shouted out.
“Prenup was literally the best part of my defence,” one person commented. “Thank you for making grad school tolerable.”
“unbelievable. what is happening to this city,” someone else wrote in a comment.
“It was a great spot on College near U of T. Great place to start the night off,” wrote another commenter.
While these commenters may be devastated to see this specific pub go, Prenup noted in their closing announcement that they have several similar sibling businesses in Toronto that offer very similar fare.
“But as every ending brings a new beginning, we are happy to share that all your events and celebrations can now find a new home at Blessing in Disguise, our newest sister location,” the closing announcement post continues.
“Everything you loved about Prenup Pub lives on at Blessing in Disguise: 45 European draught beers, unique Mediterranean cuisine, the same cozy pub vibes.”
They also note that their other sibling restaurants that live on are Sin & Redemption at 136 McCaul St., The Town Crier Pub at 115 John St., The Village Idiot Pub at 126 McCaul St., and Make Ends Meet at 228 Merton St.
The last day for Prenup Pub will be Feb. 8.
