A bakery just announced that they were abruptly closing one of their locations that’s been in business for over 30 years.
Golden Wheat Bakery is known for their basic and affordable bakery products and cafe fare, ranging from bread and sandwiches to treats like Portuguese custard tarts.
The bakery had two locations, but announced in a social media post that one of them was suddenly shutting down.
“To our loyal and valued customers. We regret to inform you that after 32 years that Golden Wheat Bakery on College Street will close,” reads the post.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure being part of the vibrant Little Italy community. We are extremely grateful for all the support throughout the years. Many more thanks to all the employees who were a part of this establishment.”

There are about a couple dozen comments on Instagram from people expressing their dismay at the closure. Fans of the bakery’s College location only had until 8 p.m. that day to get to the store for one last fix, practically clearing the shelves.
“Golden Wheat will be deeply missed by the community, thank you for everything,” commented the official Instagram account for Little Italy in Toronto.
The last day for Golden Wheat Bakery on College was March 10.
