A budget-friendly grocery store will be taking over the former site of another supermarket, and hopefully it will offer lower prices for shoppers in Toronto.

A No Frills is opening where a Loblaws used to be this week, marking the transformation of a busy Toronto intersection. No Frills is known for its accessible pricing, many locations across Toronto, its own generic brand of budget no-name products and a signature bright banana yellow colour.

A large Loblaws location shut down not long ago near the intersection of Dundas and Bloor. A No Frills that was located at the old Galleria mall at Dupont and Dufferin not far away also closed its doors recently.

The area is full of residential buildings and is located along two major arteries of Toronto, and is home to bustling Dundas West subway station, so fairly priced grocery stores are always needed in the area. The intersection also recently became home to a FreshCo.

A post about the opening of the new No Frills in Toronto at the intersection of Dundas and Bloor has around 200 likes and 100 comments on Facebook, with many people weighing in with opinions on the new grocery store and sharing memories of the neighbourhood, particularly of the Towers that were once attached to the old Loblaws at Dundas and Bloor, which later became a Zellers.

According to the GoodLife fitness centre website, a location of the gym should also be opening at Dundas and Bloor around late 2027.

No Frills at 2280 Dundas St. W. opens tomorrow, Nov. 5.
