Brand new Mexican restaurant opening its doors in Toronto

A brand new restaurant for Mexican food is swinging open its doors in Toronto, offering all the traditional favourites you know and love on their menu.

Frida House is named for artist Frida Kahlo, and reflects that artistic inspiration in their colourful and vibrant interior design as well as their tasty and delicious food packed with bold Latin flavours. They also make their very own blue corn tortillas from scratch in house.

The entire space is decked out in black light art that combines traditional Latin imagery with futuristic and surreal graphics, with depictions such as Frida Kahlo wearing sunglasses and holding a chihuahua, the CN Tower and people wearing iconic Day of the Dead makeup and costumes.

The cozy and intimate restaurant is completed with moody and artsy underlighting in different shades that perfectly sets off the atmosphere created by the artwork, and casual bar stool seating provides a place to sit and chow down. There’s also lots of decor and lighting on the ceiling that helps create a chill party vibe.

As for the menu, Frida house serves items such as tacos made with blue corn tortillas with options that include al pastor, nachos with with cheese, beans, jalapenos, crema, house salsa, pico de gallo and your choice of protein, and churros filled with your choice of either chocolate or dulce de leche.

They also serve a tasty specialty called molletes, which are pieces of crispy bread topped with creamy refried beans, melted cheese and fresh pico de gallo, and can also be topped with protein. As for something a little outside the box on the menu at a Mexican restaurant, Frida House also actually even serves pizza. You can even get al pastor pizza at Frida House.
