A huge oyster festival is coming up this summer in Toronto, and it’s going to be the ultimate seafood bash with food stations, live music, drinks and a live auction.

The Ontario Oyster Festival and Oyster Opening Championship is being hosted by Rodney’s Oyster House, where they promise 14,000 oysters will be shucked, 400 lobsters will be cracked and thousands of drinks will be poured.

The event will also include the Ontario Oyster Shucking Championship, dubbed “Oyster Mania.” The province’s best shuckers will compete for the chance to represent Ontario at the Canadian championships.

Aside from Rodney’s, food will be provided by Tutti Matti, Slow Poke Food and Pico de Gallo. You can expect beer from Amsterdam, Creemore Springs, Steamwhistle, Beyond the Pale, Blood Brothers, Alpine and Muskoka, wines from Cave Spring, Small Winemakers, Collection, Noble Estates, Lex Wines and Big Head Winery, and cocktails by Dillons, Spring Mill Distillery, and Basil Hayden. Live music acts will include Horshack the Band and DJ Shandy.

The best part is, proceeds from the festival will go towards Ecology Action Centre, which preserves and protects Atlantic Canadian waters. Tickets are $40 in advance and $55 at the door, and include two drink tickets and one food ticket. This event is a tradition at Rodney’s that goes back 35 years.

The oyster festival takes place at Rodney’s Oyster House laneway on July 21 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
