An Indian concept with restaurants in Vaughan and Bolton has announced they’re opening a location in downtown Toronto for the first time.

Urban Maharajas serves a modern Indian menu with options like butter chicken poutine, avocado chaat, mango paneer and an avocado power bowl. They pride themselves on serving organic food, and they have vegetarian and vegan options. The Bolton location serves breakfast and has a patio, so it’s possible we could even be getting a new Indian brunch in Toronto.

“The owner is a dreamer and an excellent visionary. He was able to incorporate his knowledge about health and food into a unique and one of a kind menu, alongside a beautiful facility and called it Urban Maharajas,” reads the restaurant’s website.

The restaurant first began teasing the opening of a new downtown Toronto location in early March. A video telling people to get ready for the opening of their new “luxurious fine dining restaurant” shows the St. Lawrence/Old Town area.

A highlight on the Urban Maharajas Instagram page reads “July 2024, coming soon” and signs are up for the restaurant at 22 The Esplanade.
