Toronto is getting whipped into a soccer frenzy with the upcoming arrival of the FIFA World Cup, and to celebrate Airbnb has teamed up with a famous hockey star for an exclusive two-day soccer experience.

As Torontonians and Canadians, we may be more familiar with hockey, or even basketball thanks to the Raptors NBA win a little while back. However, many of us are embarrassingly behind on the rules and regulations of soccer (or “football” as it’s known to many FIFA countries).

This exclusive getaway experience is designed to address that knowledge gap, functioning as a kind of soccer boot camp and pre-game lead up to FIFA.

The experience kicks off on July 1, which is Canada Day, when the fans who are lucky enough to get in on the experience will check into an Airbnb in a bustling Toronto neighbourhood and then have a celebratory dinner and take in fireworks at the waterfront.

Then on July 2, it’s a soccer-packed day where you’ll fuel up on Macklin Celebrini’s favourite pre-game snacks, then experience a soccer camp near the Ossington strip with experts. That night, the experience includes the final game of the FIFA World Cup for the city at Toronto Stadium.

The next day, July 3 is checkout day, but the stay will be rounded out with a Toronto Airbnb foodie experience to cap everything off.

Airbnb is also offering the exclusive chance to play a match on the Toronto Stadium pitch alongside Canadian soccer icons Dwayne de Rosario and Kadeisha Buchanan on July 3.

“Growing up with a dad who played professional soccer, I’ve always had a deep respect for the game, even if my life has been spent on the ice,” says Macklin Celebrini in a press release.

“With the FIFA World Cup 2026™ coming to Canada, it’s the perfect time to trade skates for cleats. I’m excited to get on the grass, brush up on my pitch skills, and bring fans along for the ride.”
