A chocolate shop helmed by a sixth-generation German confectioner who’s been operating in Toronto for decades will soon be closing its doors and moving to a new location.
Stubbe Chocolate makes artisanal truffles, chocolate and pastries. They’ve been located on Dupont for a long time, but now are making a big move to a different neighbourhood.
It’s a next step that’s actually been a long time coming for the shop.
“Stubbe is on the move! 2 years ago we decided on a permanent home for our little chocolate shop. Over the next few weeks we are moving,” reads a post from the store signed by owner Daniel Stubbe.
“Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the last 29 years, from our humble beginnings on Davenport Road to our home of 18 years on Dupont Street. Through all the many Valentines Days, Easters, Christmases, Hanukkahs, Birthdays, weddings, graduations etc.”
The post has nearly 500 likes and dozens of comments from chocolate lovers congratulating Stubbe on the move and saying they’re excited about the new location.
Stubbe will be leaving Dupont to reopen at a new location on St. Clair West. Retail will stay open at their Dupont location until they make the move. The St. Clair West location was formerly home to a Thrive Organic store.
The new location at 653 St.Clair Ave West. should be opening next month during September.
Stubbe’s last day on Dupont will be Aug. 25.
