Ontario’s beautiful Niagara wine region just got one more winery, and it’s a stunner that stands out from the rest.

Domaine Le Clos Jordanne has been a name in wine for quite a while, but now for the first time they have a physical space of their own to call home and welcome in guests for a taste of their products.

The interior space of the estate winery is completely renovated with custom millwork. The winery encompasses a tasting room and retail boutique, as well as a terrace with great views. Wines are available by the glass or through various tasting experiences, and they also offer hors d’oeuvres inspired by the Burgundy region.

The estate winery has actually been decades in the making, with the first batch of Le Clos Jordanne wines released in 2006 to critical acclaim. Long ago, there were plans to build a Frank-Gehry-inspired building as part of the winery, but it was decided that the space should be used to plant more vines.

They actually use old world vines imported from Burgundy in France to grow their grapes, and specialize in Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made using a minimal intervention approach. Head winemaker Thomas Bachelder spent a decade learning Burgundian wine making techniques.

Domaine Le Clos Jordanne will also soon release their first ever sparkling wine, which will first become available exclusively to members of their new wine club La Grand Famille.

“The original goal of Le Clos Jordanne was to create a ‘domaine’ in the Niagara region, producing ultra-premium, Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, entirely from our vines,” Thomas Bachelder said in a press release.

“Our first estate winery opens an opportunity to hone and uncover rich new wine stories from a range of parcels that build on our portfolio of distinct ultra-premium VQA wines.”

Doors officially opened at the new Domaine Le Clos Jordanne estate winery on June 4.
