There’s one Toronto restaurant that’s doing it up big for the holidays, but not in the conventional sense for a tradition like Christmas, Hanukkah, or anything like that.

A restaurant in Toronto is bringing a tradition to life that comes to us from a more unexpected source: syndicated television. That’s right, a Toronto restaurant is making the Seinfeld gag tradition of Festivus a reality this year by serving a special themed meal celebrating the made up holiday.

Carbon Bar in Toronto is known for their barbecue, making it the perfect place to serve up a Festivus feast.

That’s because a big giant barbecue platter feast is the perfect fuel for airing your grievances with your family and friends from the past year, and of course performing feats of strength, which are some of the main traditions involved with the fictional Festivus holiday.

There are two starters on the special signature Festivus menu that’s being served this holiday season at Carbon Bar. There’s a hamachi crudo with smoked ponzu, avocado crema, pickled Anaheim chili peppers, orange, guajillo sesame and squid ink tapioca puffs, as well as a roasted pear salad that’s made with radicchio, castelfranco, arugula, maple-roasted pears, gorgonzola and toasted walnuts and dressed with a charred leek vinaigrette.

As for the main dish, the star of the Festivus show at Carbon bar is the Festivus Platter. The feast comes with St. Louis cut pork ribs, maple bourbon pork belly burnt ends, buttermilk fried chicken and CAB brisket, all served with dill pickles, fries, coleslaw and signature sauces on the side.

And they wouldn’t dare leave out dessert. To finish off your Seinfeld-themed holiday meal, Carbon Bar is serving a Festivus banana toffee cake made with toffee, graham crumb, vanilla chantilly and brulé banana, finished off with chocolate shavings and a tuile.

You can wash down the whole smorgasbord with special limited edition cocktails designed to pair with Carbon Bar’s barbecue.

The pricing on the Festivus menu that’s being served this December at Carbon Bar is $69 per person.

So if you’re a huge Seinfeld fan and you’re looking to celebrate both that and the fun of the holidays with some barbecue and a rip roaring good time, this Festivus for the rest of us might be just what you’re looking for.

The Festivus meal will be available at Carbon Bar on Dec. 22 and 23. Carbon Bar is located at 99 Queen St. E.
