Love cuddly cat cafes? Good news, a popular one is moving to downtown Toronto.

Lazy Cat Cafe currently has a location in Scarborough, but they’ve just announced they’re closing that one and moving downtown. The cafe mainly functions as a way for the public to see and adopt stray cats, but there is a cafe element too where you can buy beverages.

Some of the cats are owned by staff, and others come from non-profit shelters and rescues. The cats at the original Lazy Cat Cafe roam through a 600-square-foot area, and there’s 200 square feet that’s accessible only to them in case they need a break, but most of them apparently naturally choose to lie on laps.

$35 at the original Lazy Cat Cafe gets you an hour in the cat room, plus a drink and dessert. Reservations can be made online. The menu at the cafe goes beyond the average drip, with options like a strawberry coconut latte, black sugar latte, blue matcha and osmanthus Americano. For dessert, they have a selection of roll cakes, waffles and croissants.

“We will provide a very spacious living environment for the cats, hoping to increase the exposure of adoptable cats in this location, thus saving them from euthanasia,” reads a post on Instagram about the new location. “We will have more gourmet food options and a large patio where you can BBQ in the summer while watching movies projected on a screen.”

The Scarborough location of Lazy Cat Cafe will close in July, and the same month the new location will open at 360 Queen Street West.
