Toronto’s newest bar serves up Roman-style aperitivo in an intimate and dimly-lit space.

Bar Niro specializes in small plates, wine, cocktails and beer, billing themselves as “a brief respite for the moments between moments.”

The space is almost entirely clad in warm, weathered wood that makes everything feel cozy. Minimalist chandeliers dangle overhead.

Cocktails include options like negronis and martinis, and small bites on the menu include thinly sliced prosciutto, other meats, olives, cheese, chips and bread.

“Bar Niro is inspired by Rome’s revered aperitivo culture. A ritual centered around gathering over small bites and pre-meal drinks,” reads the bar’s website.

“Whether you opt for an organic wine, a chilled beer, or a meticulous martini, the prosciutto will be sliced to order, the patatine crisp, and the focaccia fluffy.”

Bar Niro is now open at 1334 Dundas St. W.
