A new restaurant for luxury dining just opened in Toronto, and it comes to us from the restaurateur behind many other popular restaurants.
Oro Luxury Dining is the latest project from top restaurateur and chef Hemant Bhagwani, who has opened over 60 restaurants in Canada and the United States including Goa, Good Karma, Amaya and Indian Street Food Co.
This new restaurant promises to be just as stunning as his previous concepts, and the menu is described as “like a web series on Netflix — divided into seasons and episodes” and will incorporate Bhagwani’s flair for global cuisine. The concept is loosely inspired by the way the hit show White Lotus changes settings each season.
“Season One, Episode One” will take inspiration from Indian and Mediterranean flavours. It’s possible future “seasons” and “episodes” could be influenced by Asian cuisine or others.
For this first episode, you can expect dishes like fried chicken and caviar, claypot rice, smoked tartare, butter chicken pizza, lobster rolls and duck bao on a menu that’s mostly made up of small plates.
There will be four- and seven-course options priced at $65 and $95 respectively, with the option to add on wine pairings.
The interior looks to be hushed and elegant with dim atmospheric lighting, lots of warm wood tones, and calming neutrals.
A cocktail list posted on Oro’s website includes a Bloody Mary with “celery air,” a take on an Old Fashioned with notes of saffron and smoke, and the Oro Garibaldi with Campari and aerated orange juice. They should also be serving a couple zero proof mocktails.
Oro is now open at 501 College St.
