A new “sip and snack” festival is coming up in Toronto with over 40 vendors serving food, cocktails and natural wines. There’ll also be games and DJs, and dogs will be welcome.
Feastie is a brand new food festival that aims to champion diverse local businesses, with a focus on BIPOC- and female-owned small businesses. The festival was created by Evelyn Chick, who runs a hospitality agency as well as restaurant Simpl Things.
The fest will have over 15 cuisines represented with everything from Filipino, Korean and Italian-Asian fusion to Haitian, South Asian and Vietnamese food. There will even be drinks and desserts.
Food vendors will include Slow Jams, Kumain Kitchen, Bella Gamba, So Daam, Anh Dao, Tokyo Taco, Slowpoke, Nozomi, Salt + Mustard, Josie’s Creole Pot, Albi Sushi, Bungkus, Chau, East India Company, Meena’s Kitchen, Kopi Thyme, Phamilyeats, Pico de Gallo, Poppadum, The Abibiman Project, Simpl Things and Pampa y Patagonia.
Slowpoke specializes in wood fire barbecue, Salt + Mustard serves up pierogies, So Daam will be serving Korean fusion, Bungkus makes Malaysian food, Pampa y Patagonia makes Argentinian empanadas and Bella Gamba fuses Italian and Asian cuisines.
Dessert vendors will include Brazilian frozen treat maker Geladona, Filipino-inspired Get Baked Sweet Bar, Tito Parley’s (who specialize in Filipino sans rivals and silvanas) and Acorn Chocolates. Handcrafted cocktails will be provided by Simpl Things, natural wines will be provided by Genuwine Imports and Grape Witches, and non-alcoholic beverages will be offered by Gruvi.
Feastie is partnering with local organization Toronto Dog Moms to create a curated dog-specific outdoor space with puppy beverages and treats as well as a mini shop with accessories.
The festival is taking place at one of Toronto’s most popular breweries where there are frequent events, Henderson Brewing. Tickets are available online for $20 and include two sample drink tokens and access to cocktail classes on the day.
Feastie takes place on July 14 from noon to 8 p.m.
