The Toronto Islands officially just got a new cafe in time for the latter half of summer.

The Island Cafe just soft opened this month on Ward’s Island. It’s a triumphant return for the business that tragically burned down.

The cafe is making up for lost time with an ice cream kiosk and a cafe kiosk that are open seven days a week, including all holidays.

The cafe kiosk is open 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the ice cream kiosk is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The kiosks are set up with a patio in between with lots of shade from umbrellas.

Posts announcing the soft opening of the new Island Cafe have garnered hundreds of likes, some reaching almost 500 likes, and lots of comments congratulating them on their comeback.

“We did it. With the support of our lovely visitors, an amazing team of hard working individuals and the local Islanders,” reads a post from Island Cafe.

“And we can’t wait to do it all over again.”

Mayor Olivia Chow and Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik even stopped by the cafe for their soft opening weekend.

“The Island Cafe Team & The Freeman-McIntyre’s are so happy to be back in action serving our lovely guests,” reads another post from The Island Cafe. “We look forward to welcoming more of you all soon!”
