Giant, sparkling, shining Christmas trees lighting up the sky are in no short supply in Toronto, but now a spot that’s never had such a massive one before just welcomed a new 44-foot behemoth of a tree.

Scarborough Town Centre is now home to a glowing new Christmas tree that towers over 40 feet tall above the shopping centre and community hub.

This is the very first time that the shopping centre has ever had a tree of this size on the premises. It’s also now the proud title holder for the most humongous tree in the entire east end of Toronto.

While the new 44-foot Christmas tree may be the biggest new addition to the holiday festivities at Scarborough Town Centre, it’s far from the only thing going on at the popular mall this winter season when it comes to celebrating.

Viral social media sensation Scarborough Spots will also be operating a special seasonal vendor marketplace with rotating small business owners from the local community selling items for all your holiday gifting needs (and maybe a few choice finds for yourself).

Returning winter installations at Scarborough Town Centre that are back for another year of cheerful and festive photo ops and fun activities are Planet Santa, the region’s largest Santa set, and the iconic 16-foot hot air balloon installation in West Court.

Planet Santa is Scarborough Town Centre’s well known interactive holiday display with Christmas trees, life-sized snow globes, and of course, Santa for those memory-making photos with family and friends.

Kids can also take part in the joy of the holiday season Scarborough Town Centre’s fun Santa’s Letter Lane with writing stations where children can write out their wishes, hopes, dreams and messages to Santa letting him know that they’ve been nice this year. Kids can then deposit their special letters at an interactive mailbox at Centre Court, and track their messages as they travel all the way across the world to reach Santa Claus at the North Pole.

Scarborough Town Centre is also doing gift wrapping services in support of BGC East Scarborough with 100 per cent of proceeds donated to the Magic of Snowflakes Program, which supports families during the holidays with food donations, gift boxes, gift cards, and more. They’re also partnering with the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities through a food drive, collecting non-perishable food items at the Security Office by Entrance 6 from Dec. 1 to 19.
