A book-themed bar that’s all about reading and drinking is set to open in Toronto, and it should be the perfect place for readers who love a good beverage.
Book Bar, as it’s aptly named, bills itself as “A place to read. To sip. To stay a while” that’s “for thinkers and drinkers.”
“A place to gather. To discover. To be inspired. Welcome to Book Bar – where the love of books meets exceptional hospitality. Thoughtfully designed to celebrate conversation, creativity, and community, Book Bar is more than a place to read or sip – it’s a space to connect, linger, and share stories,” reads the official social media for Book Bar.
“Mirvish Village has long been a place where stories live – from its iconic past to the incredible new businesses that shape the neighbourhood today. With neighbours like Blackbird Baking and Pizzeria Badiali we’re grateful to join a community that honours its roots while embracing what’s next. Inside Book Bar, that same spirit guides every corner. From the upstairs lounge and bar, to the curated book displays at our entry – every nook is meant to inspire, welcome, and relax in. We’re so grateful to be joining this vibrant pocket of the city.”

Blackbird Baking and Pizzeria Badiali are some of the most popular businesses in Toronto, so Book Bar is sure to be in good company. And readers and drinkers who visit Book Bar will definitely be happy to be able to grab a fun snack along the way.
Book Bar is set to open in Mirvish Village, the newly growing development of the area around Bloor and Bathurst that used to be home to Honest Ed’s and other businesses.
Bookstores, reading at bars (links) and reading in general seem to be experiencing a boom right now in Toronto, perhaps due to the rise of #BookTok or maybe just a desire for a community based around wholesome activities in general following years of lockdowns. Romance-exclusive bookstore Hopeless Romantic just recently opened the doors of its new permanently physical location in Toronto.
“Book Bar is designed for connections – a lounge to sink into with friends, endless bookshelves to explore, and an inviting bar to toast the new stories we’ll write in this building in the years to come,” reads the social media for Book Bar.
“We’re excited to champion diverse local and Canadian voices, to host unexpected moments, offer curated recommendations, and welcome all who wander in – readers, thinkers, drinkers, and travellers alike.”
Book Bar is slated to open at 600 Markham St. around spring 2026.
