A bar that just closed down for good and shuttered its doors in Toronto is now transforming into a totally new bar, and it’s bad…in a very good way.

Bad Angel Bar is now opening up its doors softly in the space where La Piscina just very recently shut down their operations.

The bar formerly known as La Piscina actually started out as a coffee shop when it first opened, called Safehouse. Later on, the same owners behind Safehouse decided to transform their space from an intimate neighbourhood cafe into a nightlife spot for drinks, DJs and a little dancing, which was equally loved by their community. Of course, that was only one of many transformations the space would undergo in its lifetime, and now its due for another.

Bad Angel Bar has nowe opened its doors where La Piscina used to reside, and they’re going for a classic neighbourhood bar vibe with just a tiny bit of an edge, serving up drinks such as classic cocktails and beer.

The owners of the new spot first teased the Bad Angel Bar transformation with a quick and simple social media post with this caption: “Starting January 2026, the current home of @lapiscinato will have new owners, a new name, and some fresh, cozy vibes. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!”

They followed up with a post explaining a little more about the bar transformation and new concept to come:

“We will have comfy seating and a cozy atmosphere that will find you whiling away your evening with good conversation and maybe some new friends. What’s staying: We want the space to carry on being a great venue for DJs (shoutout to @mostpplhateme) and private events. We love a weekend party! How you can help: What do you love about this Dundas West neighbourhood and/or @lapiscinato ? Please share in the comments, or shoot us a DM. We appreciate you!”

The owners of Bad Angel, Eden and Corey, also took to social media to share a post with a few more details about themselves.

“Corey is a storyteller, menswear aficionado and general man-about town. He has written songs about hitchhiking, lost cats, and an unfortunate chainsaw accident,” reads the post. “Eden is a dancer, dress collector, fancy cat lady, and aspiring bassist. She owns both formal tiaras and casual around-the-house tiaras.”

An Instagram story reveals they’re serving local craft beer from Mascot, Rorschach and Left Field.

Bad Angel Bar is now open at 1615 Dundas St. W.
