There are things to do on Christmas Day in Toronto, even if many businesses are closed. Aside from the usual cozy Christmas Day activities, there are ways to get out and about and enjoy some of the great local things to do that are on offer during one of the most festive days of the year.
There are merry meals to be had at Toronto restaurants whose doors are still open on Dec. 25, and some other more unexpected activities you can engage in as well. Whether you don’t celebrate Christmas or just want to do something different for a change, here are some things to do on Christmas Day in Toronto.
Enjoy a festive brunch or dinner
On Christmas Day, Nobu is serving a special holiday version of their unlimited brunch with Japanese and western dishes including sushi, salads, pastries, desserts, chef carving stations and brunch cocktail specials.
Alder is serving up both a festive brunch and dinner on Christmas Day. They’re serving a two-course prix fixe menu for Christmas brunch featuring your choice of their signature classic breakfast dishes, and for a festive Christmas dinner they’ve serving a three-course prix fixe menu inspired by holiday favourites. There’s Caesar salad plus squash and burrata to start, followed by a main course of roasted turkey breast with roasted brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, stuffing, bread and butter, with tart tatin for dessert.

Change up your Christmas traditions by spending Dec. 25 with the animals at the zoo, which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on that day.
