Steak sandwiches have been going totally viral recently, and fortunately there are some great restaurants that have opened more recently where you can get a big, beefy one in Toronto.
They’re drawing attention for the way they’re stuffed full of slabs of meat stacked up high. This means these steak sandwiches are packed with equally viral and trending protein, and they also catch the eye with their over-the-top presentation.
While steak sandwiches have always been a timeless classic, more restaurants have been popping up recently that now have them on their menus. Some restaurants have even chosen to make them a core component of what they’re serving up.
Here are three new restaurants where you can get trendy steak sandwiches in Toronto.
Bear Steak Sandwiches
If you’re looking for a viral steak sandwich in Toronto, this is an excellent place to start. Not only have they been going viral for their signature classic steak sandwich creation, they also regularly collaborate with other businesses and brands on limited edition items that always sell out. The best part is, Bear started out as a backyard pop-up, so they know how to create viral sensations from scratch.
Their standard steak sandwich stuffs medium rare flank steak smothered in chimichurri into a Portuguese roll. Bear Steak Sandwiches now has locations on College Street and at The Well.
Paris Steak
Steak sandwiches from this relatively newly opened restaurant in Liberty Village are made using beef dry-aged for 30 days that’s butchered in-house, as well as artisanal bread.
Opt for striploin, ribeye or flatiron. Six to seven ounce of steak per sandwich are piled onto a ciabatta bun, and accompanied by chimichurri, parmesan and arugula salad. If that’s still not enough steak for you, you can choose to double your portion of steak for an additional charge. Just prepare for things to get pricey, because steak sandwiches at Paris Steak start around $20 and doubling your portion of meat will cost around $10.
They also serve steak frites, burgers and salads.
Tantxo
Argentina is known for their steak, so what better place to try a steak sandwich than this concept in the Waterworks food hall centred around Argentinean beef. In addition to their $20 steak frites, they also serve a meaty steak sandwich that’s sure to knock your socks off. It’s made with flank steak accompanied by both a garlic aioli and a chimichurri for a one-two punch of flavour.
