10 outdoor movie nights to check out this summer in Toronto

Outdoor movies nights are one of Toronto’s fun summer traditions, and the best part is they’re often free. There are tons of dates and locations, so it’s easy to find an outdoor movie night near you.
Toronto Outdoor Picture Show
Three parks are involved in this massive festival: Fort York on opening weekend in June, Christie Pits on Sundays in July and August, and Corktown Common on Thursdays in July and August. This year’s theme for movies is When We Were Young, which means they’ll be screening movies like Moonlight, I Saw The TV Glow, Clueless, Romeo + Juliet, Wizard of Oz and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Regent Park Film Festival – Under the Stars
Free movies will be screened in Regent Park on July 9, 16 and 23 and in Milliken Park in Scarborough on July 25.
Lavazza IncluCity Festival
If you’re looking for an outdoor movie night with classy refreshments, check out this fest in the Distillery District with prosecco, beer, cocktails, coffee and Italian bites. Programming takes place from late June through late July, featuring lots of movies in different languages.
College Park: After Hours
Once a month from June to September, College Park will be hosting a movie night starting at 7 p.m. They’re screening Bohemian Rhapsody, Bee Movie, The Sandlot and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. There’s also a market and live music beforehand each day.
Free Flicks
During July and August, Harbourfront Centre hosts free outdoor movie nights by the lake. All the films this year will be Academy Award winners, starting with The Shape of Water on opening night.
Free Outdoor Movie Nights at Evergreen Brick Works
Head a little outside the city for free movie nights on Thursdays in July and August in an outdoor setting that’s a little different from your average park.
Movies on the River
Watch a movie from a kayak or canoe on the Humber River while taking in water-themed movies Jaws, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lake Placid once a month in June, July, August and September.
Films on Shortt
Once a month in July, August and September, the Fairbank Village BIA is hosting this outdoor screening series on Shortt Street, showing A Minecraft Movie, Paddington in Peru and Thunderbolts.
Movies Under the Stars
Head to Downsview Park on evenings from mid-July to early August to see screenings of A Minecraft Movie and Captain America: Brave New World in both English and French.
Movie Night in the Beach
Movies will be screened every Wednesday night starting in July and extending into August for this series. Taking place in Kew Gardens near the gazebo, movies start around sunset, but get there early for games and prizes.
