You can have an ‘awkward first date’ at the AGO in Toronto

Are first dates less scary if you embrace the awkwardness and let someone else guide the outing?
The Art Gallery of Ontario knows that making connections can be hard, so it’s helping singles overcome that first-date hurdle by giving them something to talk about.
Earlier this year, the AGO launched its “awkward first date tours,” a monthly event that invites people to take their date on a 30-minute tour of Ontario’s premiere art gallery. Guided by the gallery’s art educators, the tour allows guests to explore the AGO’s most iconic pieces.
Recently, the AGO released a spate of new “awkward first date” dates for the fall, with the first event for the chillier season scheduled for Sept. 27.
“Join us for a lively and entertaining evening, where the art will do all the ice-breaking for you—you might just learn something about the art and each other,” the gallery says on its website.
Other date nights scheduled for the fall include Oct. 25, Nov. 29 and Dec. 27.
The date nights are just one of many special events hosted by the gallery. Over the coming months, members and visitors can check out a video game arts night, attend various workshops and book an afternoon tea.
The tours depart from Walker Court at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and interested couples can sign up for a time slot at 5:30 p.m.
Registration is free with general admission, but spaces are limited.
