What sculpture would you choose for Burlington community centre?

Which piece of art would you choose to stand out of a new Burlington community centre?

The City of Burlington is looking for public input the sculpture that will ultimately find at home at the Skyway COmmunity Centre.

Of all the submissions, the list as been narrowed down three finalists.

While the public won’t specifically decide which one is chosen, public input will assist the jury in making the selection.

The three finalists for the Skyway Community Centre sculpture are:

  • Artist: Aurora Robson

  • Artist: Xiaojing Yan
    Title:  Ephemeral Reverie

Once the three proposed artwork concepts have been reviewed, feedback may be submitted on one or all three designs using comment boxes.

To review the three proposed designs and submit feedback, residents can go to the project page. The deadline for comments is Sept. 8.

The new community centre is currently under construction on Kenwood Ave. and will replace Kenwood Arena.

Some of the features of the project include:

  • A full-sized 200’ x 85’ ice-pad
  • Multi-Use program space
  • Six change rooms with showers and washrooms
  • Warm and cold spectator seating with accessible options
  • Indoor walking track
  • Lobby with customer service area and offices
  • Universal washrooms

The Skyway Community Centre is expected to open late in 2024.
