Beloved neighbourhood cafe to relaunch as hybrid vintage space

A new vintage store is taking over a beloved Toronto cafe, and is keeping the coffee and treats.

Recently, the Emily Rose Cafe in The Annex announced that after five years in operation, it would be closing its doors.

However, in light of this news, the minds behind Not Forgotten Vintage, a local pop-up organization, announced that they would be taking over the space.

“I’m so excited to share that I’ll be taking over the café space! This place has always felt like home — I grew up in the neighbourhood, went to school just across the street, and have loved being part of this community for as long as I can remember,” read an Instagram post by Not Forgotten’s proprietor.

Ownership has stated that the cafe space will remain the same, going as far as keeping all of the former staff of Emily Rose, to maintain the location’s reputation as a community hub.

Images tied to the post showed racks of vintage wear outside the space, so guests may anticipate some curated selections of clothing alongside their morning coffee.

“It feels incredibly meaningful to carry it forward. My goal is to keep it the vibrant, welcoming space it’s always been, a spot for good coffee, good conversation, and connection,” read the post.

The upcoming Not Forgotten cafe space is set to launch this week, on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 721 Palmerston Ave.
