Two legendary food collaborations coming to Toronto this weekend

Two massive food collaborations are coming to one Toronto neighborhood this weekend.
Sometimes, lightning does strike in the same place twice, as the new Pennies location on College Street is teaming up with their neighbours — Bear Steak Sandwiches — to bring a brand new burger collab to Little Italy.
For three days only this weekend, Pennies will be offering a limited-edition slider created by the sandwich masters at Bear Steak.
Rocking a hefty beef patty, a melted slice of cheddar, pickles, and onions, served on a classic sesame bun, this bad boy comes with a can of beer or seltzer of your choosing, all for 10 bucks.

Shifting gears, during this same timeline, just down the road at Tondou Ramen, a meeting of culinary minds is taking place, as one of the west end’s most cherished noodle shops is teaming up with one of the GTA’s best fried chicken vendors, The Chicken Cartel.
This fried chicken sando is pinching some ingredients from Tondou’s pantries, as it is incorporating all of the umami-based hits that make the location’s ramen legendary.
Coined ‘The Ultimate Ramen Crispy Chicken Sandwich,’ this byproduct of two cooks mad with power features fried chicken soaked in nanban sauce, served on a toasted bun, paired with spicy bean sprouts, scallions, shikuwa extract, red ginger, kikurage mushrooms, and to top it all off, fresh soba noodles.

The Pennies collab will be running this weekend, from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5, and the Tondou collab, which will run late night only, on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5.
The best part — you don’t even need to pick one of the two, as they are just steps away from each other.
