Toronto’s first-ever ‘floating sauna’ has launched today.
Löyly Floating Sauna has been building up some serious hype ever since its initial announcement.
Located by the city’s historic waterfront, Löyly has been designed from the ground up with a focus on what makes sauna culture not just serene, but also balanced.
“We’re thrilled to bring this popular Nordic tradition to Toronto,” said Jess Rastas, Co-Founder of Löyly Floating Sauna, in a statement. “It’s the perfect time of year to come and experience the effect of slowing down and letting the heat and cold do what they’re meant to do.”

With immaculate views of the city skyline and the lake, Löyly is anchored on a dock, resulting in a sensation of being completely removed from the city while being in the beating heart of it.
“We wanted to give people a new reason to come enjoy the waterfront in colder months,” said Mat Slaman, Partner of Löyly Floating Sauna, in a statement. “Toronto’s picturesque waterfront is a destination that can be experienced year-round.”
The genesis of the idea came from co-founders Nick and Jess Rastas, who, in their travels, experienced an international sauna and wellness culture that mixed hot and cold sensations for a perfect balance.

Combine this with their Nordic roots, as their grandfather made a career of building saunas back in the day, and you land on the location’s namesake, Löyly, which translates to ‘steam coming off of hot stones’ in Finnish.
Those looking to plan a trip down to the waterfront can expect community sessions with up to 10 people, or private sessions for up to 12.
However, sooner is better than later for those looking for a booking, as Löyly representatives have indicated that the waitlist is only filling up.
Löyly Floating Sauna can be found at 275 Queens Quay West.
