Canada’s largest airline has named 2025’s best new restaurants in the country, and Toronto is dominating the list.
Air Canada — in keeping with tradition — released an annual top 10 for best new restaurants coast to coast, and with 2025 being no exception for dynamic restaurateurs entering the food scene, those who made the list range from Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax.
However, fully boasting our city’s reputation as a world-class food spot, Toronto ended up placing three times on the list, which is as follows:
- Mystic (Halifax, NS)
- Le Violon (Montreal, QC)
- aKin (Toronto, ON)
- Sushi Hyun Omakase (Vancouver, BC)
- Maven (Toronto, ON)
- Nero Tondo (Vancouver, BC)
- Yan Dining Room (Toronto, ON)
- Sumibiyaki Arashi (Vancouver, BC)
- Pasta Pook (Montreal, QC)
- Niwa (Vancouver, BC)
As for details on our hometown heroes, aKin opened earlier this year to much critical acclaim, showcasing some of the best experimental takes on Chinese cuisine in the entire country.

The creation of Chef Eric Chong (known for Bo Innovation, Buca, R&D), aKin can be found in a multilevel venue downtown featuring a floor dedicated to full tasting menus and a lavish cocktail bar downstairs.
Next is Maven, where Chef Shauna Godfrey pays homage to her grandma by designing an immensely flavourful menu that stems from Polish-Jewish cuisine. Located on a small corner on Harbord St, Maven is built on a foundation of hearty cooking and great drinks.

Closing out the podium of Toronto finalists is Yan Dining Room.
Found on Dundas St East, Chef Eva Chin brings the heat with a dynamic take on neo-Chinese cuisine that reinvents itself with each dish. Guests can anticipate brilliantly prepared entrees, built around flavourful broths and seared meats.
