Toronto is set to launch its first-ever fully cinematic drone show this summer.
The Origin of Light is an integrated live drone performance set to light up the night sky in Fort York this August.
A collaboration between Illumin Drone Shows (as featured on Canada’s Got Talent) and Portal Nine Experiences, the event is described as a living experience, as it is accompanied by a structured narrative told by a 15-piece live orchestra.
As for the story being told — while not much has been revealed — event officials described it as following Lyra, a cosmic being whose story is told through light moving through darkness.
This celestial narrative is given even more punch, as according to an official release, the full piece band is comprised of the Ontario Pops Orchestra, led by Maestro Carlos Bastidas.
“This isn’t just a drone show — it’s a sensory pilgrimage,” says Christian Ilumin, founder of Illumin Drone Shows, in an official statement. “We designed every moment to hit like cinema — to surround you, move you, and leave you changed.”
The Origin of Light is set to take place for one night only, on August 19, at the Fort York National Historic Site in Toronto.
