Tim Hortons ‘Moonbits’ to celebrate Canadian astronaut in this Ontario city

Tim Hortons is celebrating a Canadian astronaut’s upcoming mission to the moon with “Moonbits.”

Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen is slated to join the upcoming Artemis II mission to the Moon this year.

The four-person crew will launch from Florida, venturing beyond the far side of the Moon before completing a lunar flyby. After travelling for nearly 10 days and over one million kilometres, Orion will splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, according to the Canadian Space Agency.

It will be the first crewed mission to the Moon since .

The Moonbits 10-pack Timbits box will be available in Hansen’s hometown, London, Ontario, for a limited time.

The boxes will include information to help get people excited about the space mission.

“Canada will make history when Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, born and raised in the London area, flies around the Moon as part of Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon since the Apollo missions over 50 years ago,” the box information will read. “Canada will be only the second country to ever send an astronaut around the Moon.”

The Moonbits Timbits box will become available after the Artemis II launch date is confirmed. The earliest potential launch date is currently set for Feb. 6.
