Things to do this weekend in Mississauga: Sept. 5 to Sept. 7

The weather is cooling down and fall is only weeks away, but Mississauga is still packed with outdoor festivals, live music and community gatherings.

This weekend brings everything from the Egyptian Coptic Festival at Celebration Square to Port Credit’s Southside Shuffle and Streetsville’s First Friday market, along with bike rides, swims and plenty of family-friendly activities across the city.

Here’s what’s happening from Sept. 5 to Sept. 7:


September 5 

Egyptian Coptic Festival

Established in 2018, the Egyptian Coptic Festival is the first event in North America to showcase Canadians of Egyptian Coptic origin. The two-day celebration at Celebration Square highlights Egyptian culture, history and arts, featuring live music, shows, documentaries, kids’ activities, vendors and traditional food. More than 40 local businesses and thousands of attendees are expected.

Exhibition: Fourplex – 1 House 4 Homes

Sheridan architecture technology students are reimagining the future of fourplex living in Mississauga. The exhibition features renderings, floor plans and storyboards showing how four units can fit into a single home. Part of the city’s academic partnership program with Sheridan College, the project highlights how fourplexes could help address housing needs and bring more low-rise housing options to local neighbourhoods.

First Friday in The ’Ville

Streetsville Village Square comes alive with handcrafted goods, small-batch eats, unique finds from more than 25 vendors, and live music by local performers.

27th Annual Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle Blues & Jazz Festival

The Southside Shuffle returns to Port Credit for its 27th year, bringing three days of live blues and jazz. The festival features two free stages, one ticketed stage, and a Saturday afternoon street party on Lakeshore Rd. E. from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., along with additional performances in local clubs and restaurants. Port Credit Memorial Park will host food vendors, an artisan market, and licensed areas, drawing thousands of attendees each day.

September 6

Dogs Only Swim

The annual Dogs Only Swim returns at three Mississauga outdoor pools. Pups can enjoy a 1-hour swim session, with registration opening Aug. 15 at 6 a.m. on Active Mississauga.

Proof of vaccinations, a pet licence, and a signed waiver are required. Optional donations to the Animal Services Special Care for Animals and Resources Fund (SCARF) help provide care for animals in need.

Malton Community Ride

The Malton Community Ride invites residents to explore the neighbourhood by bike with routes ranging from 8 km to 16 km. The family-friendly ride begins at Malton Youth Hub and will be followed by refreshments.

Grafficker Alley

Grafficker Alley is a festival dedicated to self-published comics, manga, zines and artwork, celebrating grassroots creativity from independent artists and storytellers across the GTA and beyond.

Natalie G: Music Around The World

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Natalie G leads a 12-piece band on a musical journey spanning continents.

From the beats of Latin America to the melodies of the Middle East and classics from Europe, the performance highlights cultural diversity through song, international instruments and guest dancers.

Vishal and Sheykhar: The Superhit Tour

Bollywood duo Vishal and Sheykhar bring their 2025 North American tour to Mississauga, performing some of their biggest hits, including Desi Girl, Bang Bang, Sheila Ki Jawani and Nashe Si Chadh Gayi. Known for blending pop, rock and Indian influences, the pair promise a high-energy evening of music that has defined their celebrated career.

Lakeview Garlic Lovers’ Festival

The Lakeview Garlic Lovers’ Festival invites visitors to sample garlic-flavoured delicacies, shop from a variety of garlic-infused products, and take home fresh farm-grown garlic.

Flag Raising: Ukrainian Heritage Month

As part of the City’s Community Recognition Program, a flag raising will be held to mark Ukrainian Heritage Month. The program supports local charities and non-profit groups in celebrating occasions that foster community spirit and highlight Mississauga’s cultural diversity.

Discover Meadowvale Theatre

Meadowvale Theatre opens its doors for a free family-friendly open house featuring live music, artist meet-and-greets, crafts, a scavenger hunt, stage photo spot, and more. Visitors can also explore behind the scenes, buy tickets to upcoming shows, and enjoy free ice cream while supplies last.
