Butter Chicken Roti has opened a second Hamilton location, daring diners to try its spicy fare — or for the less adventurous, its milder selection of dishes featuring the famous Indian flatbread.
The Indian restaurant chain has six spice levels, from mild, for those who like the flavour rather than the heat, to nuclear hot (it jokes that you may have to “dial 911 if it goes wrong”).
With a passion to bring the best gourmet flavours from east India, Butter Chicken Roti has hit the spot for many with its wrap graced with traditional curries.
It has recently opened its second location in Hamilton at 96 Main Street E., Unit 5.
It’s open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
The restaurant specializes in roti, an Indian flatbread created from flour. It has an extensive menu of the famous dish with vegetarian, vegan and non-vegetarian options. The curry and roti can also be eaten as separate dishes on the side.
Diners can start off their day with freshly cooked Indian breakfast, such as Masala Omlette Kulcha, described as naan with crumbled egg and masalas ($5.99).
For meat lovers, you can choose meat from chicken, beef, or lamb (prices vary), with aromatically blended curries and sauces for dishes such as Tikka Masala Roti, slathered in a tandoori spiced sauce ($15.95).
Its best-seller is Signature Butter Chicken Roti, which has boneless, tender chicken breast coated in the chain’s signature butter chicken sauce ($15.95) and sides such as a crispy veggie samosa with a spiced potato filling ($1.75).
Vegetarian rotis are available, such as Saag Chana Roti, chick peas in a smooth spinach sauce ($12.95).
Crisp flatbreads are on the menu, including Paneer Paratha, which has a hot cheese filling ($7.99).
Explore the street food offerings, such as Kachori, a sweet and spicy deep-fried snack ($8.95) and the Special Butter Chicken Samosa Poutine, described as crispy samosas and crunchy fries covered in the chain’s famous butter chicken ($10.95).
There are drinks from regular or imported pop to its best-selling special mango lassi, a sweet mango-yogurt drink ($5.45) and Masala Chai, black tea with spices, sugar and milk ($2.95).
Butter Chicken Roti’s other Hamilton location is in Lime Ridge Mall.
