Reggae legend Shaggy (also known as “Mr. Boombastic”) will take part in the CFL Awards and perform a show in Niagara Falls as part of Hamilton’s Grey Cup Festival.
The CFL Awards show will be a night of football, comedy and one of the world’s top-selling music artists. It will honour the Canadian Football League’s best players at the Avalon Theatre at Fallsview on Nov. 16. Shaggy, a two-time Grammy Award-winning artist, will perform his show at Fallsview Casino following the awards ceremony that night.
People can get free transportation between Hamilton and Niagara Falls for the Grey Cup events.
Fans with a ticket to the CFL Awards (starting at $139) will get lower bowl access to the Jamaican-American artist’s show. (Tickets start at $139 with a limited number of VIP floor tickets.)
CFL and Tiger-Cats legends are expected to be at the awards show and Shaggy concert, according to festival organizers.
Those who just want to attend the Shaggy concert can buy their tickets starting at $54.02 including fees and taxes.
The Grey Cup Festival precedes the Grey Cup game, which Hamilton will host at Tim Hortons Field on Sunday, Nov. 19.
The festival’s musical lineup features other artists such as country superstar Carrie Underwood and opening act Brian Kelley on Friday, Nov. 17 at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre. Punk rock legend Green Day will perform at the Twisted Tea Grey Cup Halftime Show on Nov. 19.
Shaggy has sold more than 40 million albums. Eight of his singles made the Billboard Hot 100 and seven albums were on the Billboard 200, with four in the Top 40. Sharing the record with Bob Marley and Sean Paul, Shaggy is among the top-three streamed reggae artists of all time on Spotify.
Comedian K. Trevor Wilson of award-winning Crave series Letterkenny and Kate Beirness, CFL host on TSN, will host the CFL Awards.
