Unique and exciting musical event coming to Mississauga

Mississauga is no stranger to memorable and exciting musical performances, and it looks like opera fans have one last chance to check out a beloved production at the Living Arts Centre.

The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will be presenting La Traviata, a tale full of drama, opulence, iconic music, and tragic love, Tuesday, Jan. 28.

For those who are unaware, La Traviata tells the story of the tragic love between the courtesan Violetta Valéry (Christina Pisani), and the romantic Alfredo Germont (Keith Klassen). Set in 18th-century Parisian high society, Alfredo and Violetta’s love threatens to shame his family.

When Alfredo’s father directly appeals to Violetta to relinquish her one chance of happiness, Violetta submits, and her act of self-sacrifice leads to her paying the ultimate price.

“Featuring one of the most iconic, romantic and tragic scores of all time, Verdi’s masterpiece contrasts spectacular party scenes with tender, intimate moments,” the MSO says.

The production will take place inside of Hammerson Hall, a world-class theatre that is at the heart of the Living Arts Centre.

Complimentary underground parking is included with every ticket purchase.

The show begins at 8:00 pm.

Regular ticket prices range from $50-$95.

The MSO is now offering a 50 per cent discount on all regularly priced tickets for the closing night performance on Jan. 28.
