Some Toronto spots are staying closed after this weekend's blizzard

This weekend’s blizzard may be over, but a handful of Toronto institutions are playing it safe for their community.

As a result of the recent polar vortex, Toronto has been hit with 46 cm of snow, resulting in some integral components of city services scaling back operations.

Alongside schools and transit, a handful of Toronto favourites have opted to keep their doors closed or postpone events as the city snaps out of its cold snap.

The Opera House

This foundational East End venue in the Riverside area is known as one of the city’s key stages for larger acts and major events.

However, due to the recent blizzard, artists slated to perform at the venue yesterday and today have opted to postpone their shows to later this week.

Skyline Diner

Jumping across the middle divide to the West Side, this cherished gathering place in Parkdale took to Instagram to notify its patrons that it would be closed for the bulk of the day today, with hopes of opening for dinner service with updates to come.

Beyond that, in true Toronto fashion, proprietors of the establishment have been postingtheir progress shovelling not just their own walkways but also those of their neighbouring businesses.

Golden Turtle

While the first impulse after getting snowed in may be to grab something piping hot and soupy, those gunning for some of Ossington Avenue’s most sought-after Pho and Vietnamese food may be out of luck.

Golden Turtle took to Instagram today to notify its patrons that due to the lingering impact of more than just a little inclement weather, they’ll be closed until this Wednesday.
