One of Toronto’s most popular grocery suppliers is closing two flagship locations.
Representatives behind Whole Foods Market have announced that both the Yonge & Sheppard and Leaside locations are scheduled to close by the end of August.
Further information relayed by brand officials noted that the decision was based solely on internal strategy, stating, “Like any retail business, we regularly evaluate each of our stores and make decisions to position the company for long-term success.”
Both the Markham and Yorkville Whole Foods locations will remain in operation for the time being.
While the abrupt closure of these two locations may spell uncertainty for the brand’s presence in Toronto, representatives with Whole Foods indicated that there is a long-term plan to strategically open more locations in the city, with a King St. West location slated for next 2026.
“We are actively exploring new sites to expand our footprint in Canada and look forward to opening more stores, including a new Toronto location on King Street West, which is expected to open next year.”
Both the Yonge & Sheppard and Leaside Whole Foods Market locations are scheduled to shut their doors next week, on August 22.
