When one door closes, another one opens.
Literally.
Italian fare fans who were sad to say goodbye to east-end staple Baldini after almost 20 years didn’t have to wait long for the space to be occupied by another restaurant specializing in one of Europe’s most famous cuisines.
Earlier this month, La Roma Piccola opened its doors on Queen Street East in the city’s Leslieville neighbourhood.
On its website, operators say the dishes are “rooted in classic recipes passed down through generations.”
“From the sun-drenched fields of Tuscany to the bustling streets of Rome, we source the finest ingredients to create dishes that celebrate the essence of Italian cooking,” the website says.
“Our commitment to authenticity means we make our pasta fresh daily, slow-cook our sauces, and infuse every bite with the soul of Italy.”
As far as food goes, the menu is vast and features antipasti and classic appetizers such as bruschetta, arancino, Bufala mozzarella, calamari and more.
For entrees, diners can pick from a wide range of paninis (meatball, chicken, prosciutto, veal and vegetable varieties, to name a few), pasta dishes, risotto, veal, chicken and fish-based mains, pizza and more.
The restaurant also offers dessert and specialty coffees.
