Smoked meat, and plenty of it, is the specialty of a Montreal-style deli that has just opened in Mississauga.

Rock’N Deli, which has operated successfully in Quebec since 1992, can now be found in the food court of Square One.

The chain has built its reputation on the heaping helping of premium smoked brisket prepared in legendary Montreal fashion that has stood the test of time since 1992  — and that’s saying something in a town where the deli competition is stiff with the likes of Schwartz’s, Dunn’s, Reuben’s and Lester’s in town.

From humble beginnings in a food court in the large Montreal suburb of Laval, Rock’N Deli has now grown to 12 franchise locations in Quebec and Ontario, with Mississauga becoming the latest to tap into the growing foodie fixation that has diners searching for the latest flavour to hit town.

What the Mississauga audience will find is a traditional smoked meat prepared through a unique family recipe that involves a 12-day slow-cooking process.

Typically served on rye bread with mustard, at Rock’N Deli they serve three styles: the traditional smoked meat sandwich, the Reuben (with smoked meat, Swiss cheese, cabbage and special sauce), and “The Smokey,” which comes on a brioche bun.

But it’s not just smoked meat at Rock’N Deli.

Also on the menu, you can find several varieties of smash burgers, club and sub sandwiches, poutine with numerous toppings, chicken wings and sides such as onion rings, jalapeños poppers, churros, and mozzarella sticks.

Rock’N Deli now joins an evolving line-up in the central food court at Square One is also now home to Chick-fil-A, A&W, New York Fries, Cinnabon, Manchu Wok, Edo Japan, and Taco Bell, among others.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
