Michelin restaurant in Toronto hosting improv night based on hit TV show

TV’s most popular show about restaurants is getting the special Toronto treatment this week.

FX’s The Bear, which famously co-stars Toronto’s own culinary golden boy Matty Matheson, has been dominating TV for the last couple of years, lauded for its honest and often hilarious portrayal of working in restaurant kitchens.

While the show isn’t shifting gears or having a special ‘Toronto episode,’ we are, however, getting the next best thing, as Gia, a celebrated Italian spot near Trinity Bellwoods, is hosting The Bear Improvised.

The Michelin-recommended location, which is a go-to spot for many, will host some of the city’s best improvisers from Toronto’s Everything Improvised troupe, as the “immersive dine-in experience” will involve local talent playing characters from The Bear during an actual dinner service.

As for the menu that will be running alongside the chaos of comedians improvising a ‘stressful shift,’ menu items (chaos excluded) appear to include fresh in-house focaccia, salad, and arancini, further showcasing Gia’s talent for Italian fare.

The Bear Improvised is set to take place this week, on Feb. 18, at Gia, located at 1214 Dundas St W.

Tickets are available online.
