A downtown Toronto hotel is rolling out new renovations, which include a new rooftop restaurant.
The W Toronto Hotel, part of the expansive fleet of W Hotels nationwide, has just revealed that it will be launching ‘Volume II’ of its Yorkville location’s renovation plans.
On top of numerous new lounge areas and fixtures, this announcement comes with the reveal of TONO, the location’s new rooftop restaurant helmed by Akira Back, the Michelin-awarded restaurateur.

Scheduled for next month, the location has been designed from the ground up to introduce Toronto to Nikkei cuisine, described via an official release by the chain as “a blend of Japanese precision and Peruvian passion.”
Back, known for fronting a rebellious yet cutting-edge approach to modern cuisine, has designed the menu to be true to its cultural roots while also pushing the boundaries of what Toronto’s modern dining landscape looks like.
In terms of other locations, Back is also known as the creative genius behind his self-titled Akira Back Restaurant on King St. in Toronto.
TONO is scheduled to open this upcoming October, 2025, and while no details on the menu have been revealed, those willing to take the plunge can book a spot on the restaurant’s waiting list.
