While there’s no shortage of summer activities in Toronto or the GTA, you don’t often hear about taking in the dusky scenery in the comfort of an illuminated kayak.

Until now.

Recently, Illuminated Escapes, an outdoor rental kayak company, announced that a unique glow-in-the-dark kayaking experience can once again be enjoyed in Toronto at Sunnyside Park or in Brampton at Heart Lake Conservation Park.

“We’re the only company in the region providing this kind of illuminated water adventure, and it’s quickly become a must-do activity for families, date nights, and anyone looking to experience the outdoors in a fresh, exciting way,” a company representative said in an email to INsauga.com.

“As a local, female-owned small business, we’re proud to contribute to Brampton’s vibrant summer scene with something both Instagram-worthy and family-friendly.”

The website says the Sunnyside Park location in Toronto offers a sandy beach, boardwalk trails and views of the city skyline. From the launch point, riders can paddle west along the shoreline towards the Humber Bay Arch Bridge and up the Humber River or east along the break wall.

As for Brampton, Heart Lake Conservation Area is one of the only natural lakes in the Etobicoke watershed and offers clear water that makes kayaking less challenging for boaters. The location is known for bird watching, fishing, treetop trekking and hiking.

Along with rides for friends and couples, the company also offers teambuilding and corporate outings.

While walk-ins are accepted, reservations are recommended–especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The experience includes an illuminated kayak, a Bluetooth speaker, life jackets, paddles and a safety kit.

Illuminated Escapes is also offering a Canada Day experience for two people for $175 at Ashbridges Bay Park that will allow participants to enjoy fireworks at 10 p.m.

The experience is available for anyone over the age of five, while an adult must accompany all riders under 12. All tours are self-guided, but paddle lessons are available upon request. Small pets are permitted on the kayaks, but special flotation devices for animals will not be provided.
