One of Canada’s most iconic brands has opened a store with a new concept in Toronto.
Roots, a Canadian brand launched by two friends in 1973, has come up with a different style shop.
The “Roots Outpost” just celebrated its official grand opening on Wednesday in Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood, Roots said on Instagram.
The Outpost, located at 1096 Yonge St., is a concept space that “pays homage to 52 years of craftsmanship through meaningful storytelling, thoughtful design, and elevated product experiences,” Roots said.
“Roots Outpost is a place that celebrates everything that makes us iconic,” Roots said.
The shop is smaller than other locations and apparel is displayed in “a gallery-like setting,” according to a story in Retail Insider. It also carries items from local artisans such as pottery, hand soaps and candles.
There are vintage photos and items on display in the shop.
“The concept integrates archival photography, heritage objects, Canadian art, and warm natural finishes to create a multi-sensory environment that celebrates Roots’ 52-year history,” Retail Insider said.
The new shop is also very close to the brand’s first store, which opened at 1052 Yonge St. in August 1973. Roots has since grown into 115 stores nationwide with over 2,000 Canadian employees.
