Huge department store opens at Toronto Eaton Centre

One of Canada’s oldest stores opened a new location in Toronto on Thursday.
Quebec department store, La Maison Simons, opened in the space previously home to Nordstrom in CF Toronto Eaton Centre today.
This is Simons second Toronto location— the Yorkdale store opened in August.
The three-level, 112,000-square-foot, Eaton Centre store includes a blend of fashion, art, and design in one of the country’s most iconic retail destinations, La Maison Simons said in a press release.
“At Simons, we believe fashion is one of the most powerful forms of self-expression—a daily opportunity to share who we are and what we value,” said Bernard Leblanc, president and CEO of Simons. “That belief is reflected in every part of this new store: in the creativity and art that surround us, in the exceptional customer service we are known for that connects people on a human level, and in the sense of community we are proud to build together.”
Simons carries avant-garde fashions and exclusive private collections for men and women, complemented by a selection of nationally recognized brands and top designer names, the company said. They also carry home fashions for the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

This is the company’s nineteenth location in Canada.
Founded in 1840 in Quebec City by John Simons as a dry goods store, Simons has been expanding across Canada in recent years. The department store, which many say will help fill the void left by Hudson’s Bay (which shuttered all of its stores this year) or Nordstrom, opened its first Ontario location in Mississauga’s Square One Shopping Centre close to a decade ago.
Simons also has a store in CF Rideau Centre in Ottawa.
Cadillac Fairview welcomed the new addition to the Eaton Centre.
