Here are the top trending Halloween costumes in Canada for 2025

Halloween costumes trending in Canada include K-Pop characters, plushy toys and Wicked stars.
Time is running out to choose a costume, but Hibaq Ali, Google trends expert, has a few top choices.
This year, K-Pop is leading the charge, Ali said.
Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters is topping Google searches in Canada, with many people looking for purple hair extensions to perfect the look. The movie, released on Netflix this summer, tells the story of K-pop music superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey who moonlight as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger.

Other films providing inspiration include characters from 2024 musical fantasy film Wicked, and the Netflix series Squid Game.
“Searches for Glinda costumes are soaring, doubling those for Elphaba,” Ali said. “Of course, classic horror isn’t forgotten, with the Squid Game Front Man still a trending choice. For duos, pairings like Belly and Conrad or Stitch and Angel are winning hearts and searches.”

The Front Man is the main antagonist in Squid Game. Belly and Conrad are the main characters in The Summer I Turned Pretty book and TV series, and Stitch and Angel are Disney characters.
Another trend builds on the Labubu craze. Labubu are a small, plushy monster toys created by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung and inspired by Nordic mythology. The toys are sold exclusively by the China-based retailer Pop Mart, which primarily releases Labubu figures in sealed “blind box” packaging that conceals the specific character inside.

“Don’t be surprised to see lots of plushy Labubu characters roaming the streets this Halloween, as the costume is popular for both kids and adults alike,” Ali said.
The Google trending lists were calculated based on year-over-year searches comparing September 2025 to September 2024 in Canada.
Other popular ideas floating on Reddit include the Coldplay Couple caught on the kiss camera, characters from the movie Sinners, Gladys from the horror film Weapons, and musicians Sabrina Carpenter and Katy Perry (perhaps with former Prime Minster Justin Trudeau).
