Giant block party coming to Toronto’s trendiest neighbourhood

A massive block party is coming to one of Toronto’s most up-and-coming neighbourhoods.
The Geary Block Party, happening this Saturday, Sept. 20, is a sprawling event that aims to celebrate the venues, businesses, and restaurants that make up Geary Ave. — a rapidly growing slice of Toronto, north of downtown.
Home to several institutions, such as Blood Brothers Brewing and General Public, one of the city’s most in-demand restaurants, Geary has been making a significant splash as a block for artists of all varieties to carve out their own piece of the city.
To showcase this, the Geary Block Party has created a network of events for the day, provided by some of the area’s heaviest hitters.
To kick things off, Bodega Geary, the neighbourhood’s go-to nook to grab a coffee, is doing the unthinkable by running an all-day pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
The venue is also running a full day of programming, which includes a daytime DJ party, a bingo brunch, and a full nighttime party in their beer garden.

Shifting gears, Division 88, one of the city’s best venues/studios, is throwing the gloves down for their ‘Artbrawl’ event.
This creative skirmish comprises 22 artists going head-to-head in a mad dash to paint or spray their most innovative works on massive boards. During this event, Division 88 will be slinging smash burgers and pouring drinks for the crowd cheering on their favourite paint-stained gladiators.
Those in need of a break will also be able to do a little shopping, as Of Sorts Studio will be running a pop-up for all things vintage, including clothing, jewellery and numerous art prints from local creatives.

After doing a little eating, spectating and shopping, odds are one will be thirsty, well, the Geary Block Party has you covered as both Blood Brothers Brewing and Macedo Winery will be pouring throughout the entire event.
Blood Brothers will be rocking their second annual battle of the bands, while Macedo will be pouring five-dollar wine glasses all day in celebration of the neighbourhood’s future as a hub for all things that make Toronto world-class.

To cap it all off, amidst all the parties, dancing and celebrating, for those who want a taste of one of the city’s hottest restaurants, General Public will, for a brief window only, be serving a brisket, chuck and bone marrow burger, to those who want a taste of what Geary is all about.
